QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's track & field sophomore Brianna Drexler made school history Monday evening by being the first Red Storm athlete to clear the seven foot mark in the pole vault. Drexler cleared the bar at the height of 7 feet 2 inches, earning her a spot in the St. John's record books and a first place victory. As a team, the Red Storm tallied 10 top finishes in the first of two Monday home meets, part of the St. John's track & field team's spring series on DaSilva Memorial Field. Also earning individual first place scores was junior Tyneka Greene with a time of 4:59.08 in the 1,500-meter run, and a time of 2:22.46 in the 800-meter run; freshman Priscilla Frederick in the 100-meter hurdles (16.19), sophomore Asia Nettles in the 400-meter dash (58.91); freshman Lori Dougherty in the 3,000-meter run (11:36.06), senior Dominique Eason (10.24 meters) in the shot put, and junior Marie Griffiths in the long jump (4.71 meters). Both Red Storm relay squads scored top times as well as the 4x100-meter team crossed the tape at a time of 51.75 and the 4x400-meter team finished at 4:21.17. The Red Storm will be back in action this weekend, competing in the Sam Howell Invitational in Princeton, N.J. on April 5.
