Men's Rowing Varsity 8 Named Crew of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's Men's Varsity 8 was named the Crew of the Week by the international website, rowk2k.com. The Hawks received 35 percent of the votes done online, defeating five other crews, including Georgetown, Tufts and Navy. Saint Joseph's Varsity 8 captured the Bergen Cup, representative of the city championship, for the first time since 1978. The Hawks beat Temple by seven-tenths of a second, marking the first time in five years that SJU beat the Owls. That came after the Hawks had finished 10th the previous week at the SIRA, behind Temple which had placed third. Next up for the Hawks is the Dad Vail Regatta on May 9-10.
