Saint Joseph's to Celebrate Think Pink Day February 9

Feb. 1, 2008

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's basketball team will celebrate "Think Pink Day" on Saturday, February 9 when the Hawks take on Duquesne at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse at 2:00 pm.

All fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness, and those doing so will receive a ticket to the game for just $1. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales and a memorabilia auction at the game will go to the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition (PBCC). The PBCC represents, supports and serves breast cancer survivors and their families in Pennsylvania through educational programming, legislative advocacy and unique outreach initiatives. The PBCC (www.pabreastcancer.org) is a statewide non-profit organization that creates the hope of a brighter tomorrow by providing action and information to women with breast cancer today.

Student-athletes from both teams will be wearing special pink t-shirts for warm-up, as well as pink shoelaces and wristbands. Fans will have the chance to win these special t-shirts, as the Saint Joseph's cheerleaders will be throwing them out into the crowd during timeouts.

In addition, Saint Joseph's will hold an autograph session following the game with free team posters for the first 150 kids.

For more information on "Think Pink Day," please contact the Saint Joseph's Athletic Marketing Office at 610-660-1725.
