Hawks' Acker Earns Fourth A-10 Rookie of the Week Honor

PHILADELPHIA - For the second straight week, and fourth time this season, Saint Joseph's freshman center Sarah Acker has earned Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week accolades, this time for the week of February 11-17. Posting back-to-back double-doubles - her fourth and fifth respectively - Acker helped the Hawks to a 1-1 record on the week, while averaging 14 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks per game. At Charlotte on Tuesday, Acker tied her season-high with 16 rebounds and added 10 points and three blocks in a last-second loss to the 49ers. On Saturday, Acker helped Saint Joseph's to a 69-64 win at Richmond, scoring 16 of her 18 points in the second half, adding 12 rebounds and two assists. For the season, Acker leads the Hawks in both scoring (12.7 ppg), and rebounding (8.8 rpg), with her 61.2 percent field goal percentage (134-of-219) leading both SJU and the A-10. The rookie enters the week 23rd in Saint Joseph's single-season records for rebounding (219), seventh in single-season blocks (40), with her field-goal percentage ranking second among all-time single-season leaders. Acker shares conference accolades with Xavier's Ta'Shia Phillips, with La Salle's Carlene Hightower and Temple's Lady Comfort sharing A-10 Player of the Week honors. The Hawks (14-11, 6-4 A-10) return to action Wednesday when SJU hosts Temple at 7 p.m.
