Saint Joseph's Women's Tennis Blanks St. Thomas, 7-0

MIAMI GARDENS, FL - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team improved to 6-5 on the year as the Hawks swept St. Thomas, 7-0.

Saint Joseph's earned the first point of the match in doubles play, winning at all three doubles flights. Senior Stephania Velazquez and sophomore Jennifer Kedzierski topped St. Thomas' Natalia Ramirez and Adriana Montilla 8-3 at No. 1 doubles, while SJU's Maggie Mullaney and Gina DiGiacomo beat San-nise Crosby and Grier Clark 8-3 at No. 2 doubles to capture the first point of the match.

In individual play, the Hawks were straight-set winners in every match. Velazquez topped Ramirez 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Kedzierski beat Clark 6-0, 6-0. At. No. 3 singles, DiGiacomo was an easy 6-1, 6-1 winner over Montilla, while Mullaney beat Crosby in a shortened match, 8-0. Rounding out the competition for the Hawks, senior Lauren Kuhmerker topped Kishauna Henry 6-0, 6-0 at NO. 5 singles, while junior Krysta Contino earned the point for SJU at No. 6 singles.

The Hawks return to action April 1 at Saint Peter's.
