Track Squads Wrap Up Competition at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The Saint Joseph's track teams competed at the prestigious Penn Relays this weekend with multiple squads using the event for impressive times. Noteworthy performances were turned in by the women's 4x400m and the men's 4x800m and Distance Medley relays. Kierstin Quinn, Kristen Andrews, Jordan Teuber, Nicole McMullen provided the legs of the 4x400m team that finished the four circuits in a time of 3:49.62, good for 41st place in the college division. It was the second fastest 4x400 relay run in school history. On the men's side, the best relays were that of the 4x800m and the Distance Medley Relay. Competing in the open college division the 4x800m consisted of Steve Young, Ryan Fenimore, Brendan Kearney, and Jesse Brooks, finished in 7:45.12, good for 18th place. The DMR, on the other hand, ran a season-best time of 10:10.35. The DMR had the same members on the squad as the 4x800 save for Brooks, inserted with Drew Brandt. The DMR ran to a 19th place showing. The women's team had two individual performances turned in by Kristin Pierce and Natalie Miller in the 400m Hurdles and High Jump, respectively. Pierce ran a season-best time of 1:04.28 while Miller leapt to a season-best 5' 3 ¼".
The teams will travel north next weekend to Amherst, Massachusetts, where they'll compete in the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships at UMass.
