Allison Walter Inks with Billikens
May 20, 2010
ST. LOUIS - Allison Walter (Overland Park, Kan./Bishop Miege) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Saint Louis University and compete in track and field for the Billikens, as announced today by SLU head coach Jon Bell. Walter will have four years of eligibility beginning with the 2010-11 academic year. "The coaching staff is excited to have Allison join our team," Bell said. "She has already proven herself at the high school level over 400 meters, and we are excited to watch her develop over 800 meters on the collegiate level. One of the things that turned us onto Allison was her desire to improve at 800 meters. Rarely do you find high school sprinters who want to transition into longer events. I anticipate Allison becoming one of the best middle-distance athletes ever at Saint Louis University." A two-time Kansas Class 5A runner-up at 400 meters, Walter has registered a personal-best time of 56.79 in the event. She has also run personal bests of 25.5 in the 200 meters and 2:20 at 800 meters. Walter earned numerous All-Metro honors from the Kansas City Star and was a member of Bishop Miege's Class 5A volleyball state championship team. Walter joins a recruiting class that also includes Kita Alvares (Colorado Springs, Colo./Cheyenne Mountain) and Margo Richardson (Mt. Vernon, Ill./Mt. Vernon Township).
