 Cloudy, Smiles Compete in NCAA Track Championship Prelims

AUSTIN, TEXAS - Saint Louis sophomores Brittney Cloudy and Dahmar Smiles are in Austin, Texas, this weekend for the 2010 Outdoor Track and Field West Preliminary Round at Mike A. Myers Stadium. Smiles will compete in the 110-meter hurdles in the first round Friday at 4:30 p.m., while Cloudy participates in the triple jump Saturday at 2 p.m. The duo will be looking for top-12 finishes in their respective events, which will ensure them a spot in the NCAA Championship beginning June 12 at the University of Oregon in Eugene. Cloudy is a three-time (2009 and 2010 indoor; 2010 outdoor) Atlantic 10 Conference champion in the triple jump. Earlier this season at the Drake Relays, she surpassed her own school record in the event with a leap of 41 feet, eight inches. Smiles claimed the 110-meter hurdles A-10 crown and also finished second in the 400-meter hurdles at the A-10 Championships. He holds the school record in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.02.
