ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis sophomore second baseman Andrew Guerra (Dallas, Texas/Rice/Jesuit Prep HS) was named the Atlantic 10 Conference's baseball Player of the Week for the period ending May 4, as announced Monday by the league office. Guerra helped the Billikens to a 3-2 slate last week by hitting a team-high .571 and driving in 11 runs. He scored 10 times and belted three home runs. In addition, he became SLU's all-time single-season leader in doubles after registering three during the week to bring his season total to 20. Against Harris-Stowe State last Tuesday, Guerra went 3-for-4 with a homer and three runs scored. He put together another three-hit day at Illinois State, going 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored. On Saturday at Richmond, he posted a career-high five RBIs. Guerra homered in the contest and ripped a double that tied Jason Boehlow's school mark of 18. Sunday against the Spiders, he homered again and cracked two doubles to become SLU's all-time leader in the category. For the season, Guerra is second on the squad in hitting (.327) and runs scored (36). He is tied for first with five home runs, while his 29 RBIs rank third on the club. Guerra and the rest of the Billikens resume play on Friday when they travel to Duquesne to begin a three-game series.
