Grazier Signs Contract with Rapids
March 5, 2008
ST. LOUIS Former Saint Louis men's soccer midfielder Brian Grazier has signed a developmental roster contract with Major League Soccer's Colorado Rapids. In addition, former Billiken John DiRaimondo, who was a key member of the Rapids' MLS Reserve Division Champions last year, signed an extension to remain a part of the Rapids' organization. Grazier was drafted in the fourth round (47th overall) of the MLS SuperDraft in January. Prior to that, he participated in the MLS Combine in January in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Both Grazier and DiRaimondo were active this winter, participating in the Rapids' preseason training in Colorado and Florida. Another former SLU standout, Tim Ward, will join his former collegiate teammates in Colorado. He joined the club this offseason after being traded from Columbus. Ward was drafted by the MetroStars in 2005 and spent one year there before playing two seasons at Columbus. Grazier, DiRaimondo and Ward were part of the Billikens' 2004 campaign. Other former Billikens in MLS are Jack Jewsbury in Kansas City and Brad Davis in Houston. Since 2001, the Billikens have had nine players drafted by MLS.
