ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis head women's basketball coach Shimmy Gray-Miller announced today that 5-foot-8 guard Courtney Webb (Benton Harbor, Mich./Benton Harbor), who played the past two seasons at DePaul, has transferred to SLU. Webb will have two years of eligibility remaining after sitting out the 2010-11 season due to NCAA transfer rules.

Webb played in 29 games for the Blue Demons and tallied 69 points and 33 rebounds. She was a Big East Conference All-Academic selection as a freshman.

At Benton Harbor, Webb finished third in Michigan Miss Basketball balloting as a senior after averaging 18 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists and helping lead the Lady Tigers to the Class A state tournament quarterfinals. Also that season, she was named to the Detroit Free Press and Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan All-State teams and was a McDonald's All-America nominee. Webb finished her high school career with more than 1,300 points.

"Courtney will make an immediate impact on the offensive end," Gray-Miller said. "She is explosive, quick and a potent scorer. Nobody on our roster can do what Courtney can do with the ball. We are thrilled that she chose to continue her playing career as a Billiken.

"Courtney is a wonderful young lady and a hard worker in the classroom," Gray-Miller said. "Everyone at DePaul had nothing but positive comments about her, and that carries a lot of weight with us.

"This is an ideal situation for Courtney," Gray-Miller added. "She will spend next season becoming familiar with our defensive system and acclimated to the culture of Saint Louis University and her new teammates. Courtney will have an opportunity to be a featured player on our team, which is what she was seeking."

"I am impressed with Saint Louis University's academics, prestige and athletic opportunities," Webb said. "SLU is a close-knit community that is dedicated to bringing out the best in student-athletes. The coaching staff has everything I was seeking, such as a sense of humor, a love for the game and genuine honesty. Each coach has a unique method of coaching the game, but they all possess common goals and the desire to win. I look forward to playing for coach Shimmy and using my God-given ability to help the team any way I can."
