Amherst, Mass. - Sophomore Jessica Hampson (Smithtown, N.Y.) won the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase Saturday at the UMass Invitational in Amherst, Mass. Hampson's time of 10:52.83 qualifies her to compete in the ECAC in May at Princeton University.

Also taking first place for the women was sophomore Lisa Voltaire (Stockholm, Sweden) who crossed first in the 1,500-meter (4:37.64). Freshman Carolina Cortes (Woodmere, N.Y.) was not far behind, crossing fifth in a time of 4:44.17.

Freshman Ruth Gillespie (Carrickfergus, N. Ireland) took third for the Seawolves in the 5,000-meter (18:17.46), while sophomore Stephanie Vos (Apalachin, N.Y.) finished sixth in the 400-meter (1:06.09) and junior Fisayo Tunde (Selden, N.Y.) crossed tenth in the 100-meter (13.29).

On the men's side, Stony Brook had a strong showing in the field events, placing within the top ten five different times.
