Eight Seawolves Named to America East Outdoor Track & Field All-Conference Team

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Eight members of the Stony Brook outdoor track and field team were named to the America East All-Conference team, according to a release from the conference Monday. Freshman Holly Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand) was also named the Woman's Most Outstanding Rookie.

Van Dalen claimed an individual title over the weekend, winning the 1,500-meter event in 4:28.43. Joining her on the women's all-conference team is senior Dana Hastie (Wellington, New Zealand), who finished second in the 5,000-meter (16:38.07) and freshman Carolina Cortes (Woodmere, N.Y.) who took second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:41.77).

The men's team placed five members on the all-conference team, led by sophomore Tim Hodge (Tawa, New Zealand) who won the 5,000-meter event in 14:30.06. Joining him is senior Mubaarak Muhammad (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) who took second in the triple jump (14.38), senior Justin Miller (Smithtown, N.Y.) who placed third in the discus (43.23) and sixth in the shot put (14.74), sophomore Iain Whitfield (Stroud, England) who crossed third in the 5,000-meter (14:44.89) and sophomore Alex Felce (Stroud, England) who took third in the 1,500-meter (3:50.85) and second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (8:53.45).
