Koehler, Witkowski Earn Weekly Conference Baseball Honors
March 24, 2008
Stony Brook, N.Y. - Senior Tom Koehler (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and junior Brian Witkowski (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) earned America East Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week honors, respectively, the league office announced Monday. Witkowski hit the go-ahead home run in the top of the 12th inning of the Seawolves' 7-6 victory over Longwood on Saturday afternoon. He also went 3-for-3 with a double and a stolen base in the 6-4 loss to No. 19 Virginia on Tuesday. For the week, he hit .600 and posted a slugging percentage of 1.067. Koehler struck out nine batters in 6.0 innings of work to pick up the victory in the Seawolves' 16-3 win over James Madison on Thursday. It was the only appearance of the week for Koehler, who allowed just two earned runs and five hits. He moved to 3-1 overall this season with an earned run average of 3.55. This is Koehler's second such award this season. The Seawolves return to action on Wednesday, traveling to take on Fordham at 3:30 p.m.
