Stony Brook To Host 2008 America East Baseball Championship

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook University baseball team will host the 2008 America East Baseball Championship beginning Thursday on the campus of Farmingdale State College in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Seawolves finished the regular season with a 31-24 record, posting a 14-10 conference mark to earn the tournament's No. 2 seed. The four-team, double-elimination tourney will open with top-seeded Binghmaton (27-25, 15-8 AE) taking on fourth-seeded Vermont (26-22, 12-11) at 3:05 p.m. on Thursday with the Seawolves taking on third-seeded UMBC (21-27, 13-11) in the nightcap at 7:05 p.m. The winners and losers, respectively, will face each other on Friday. Saturday's first game will pit the 1-1 teams together, while the two teams still standing will play for the conference crown Saturday night. If necessary, a seventh game will take place Sunday at 12:05 p.m. Tickets for each day of the championship cost $7 for adults and $2 for children under-14 and students with valid America East school IDs.
