Rob Leonard Named Stony Brook and America East Player of the Week
May 21, 2007 Stony Brook, N.Y. - Rob Leonard has been named both the America East Player of the Week and the Stony Brook Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts on the diamond this past week. Leonard closed out the regular season with one of his best weeks in his four-year collegiate career. The senior outfielder cracked five home runs in a four-game set at UMBC with 11 RBI and a slugging percentage of 1.375. In the 3-1 series win over UMBC, Leonard crossed the plate seven times and drove in 11. Leonard leads the Seawolves with his .341 batting average, seven home runs and 42 RBI. He is hitting a league-best .422 in America East play and leads the conference with 29 RBI and six home runs in conference. Leonard earns player of the week for the second time this season. He was player of the week on April 9. The second-seeded Seawolves, who are hosting the 2007 America East Baseball Championships on the campus of Farmingdale State, will take on Albany in the first round of the AE Championships on Thursday, May 24. First pitch is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.
