Stephan Named Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Freshman Michael Stephan has been named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American, Collegiate Baseball announced on Wednesday. Stephan was one of six designated hitters chosen. The Patchogue, N.Y. native hit .328 with seven doubles, three homers and 16 RBI for Stony Brook, which finished 31-24. Stephan ranked 7th in the country in hit by pitches per game with a 0.48 average.

Stephan was one of three players selected from the America East joining Myckie Lugbauer from Maine and Henry Dunn from Binghamton. Stephan's selection as freshman all-american marks the first time a Stony Brook baseball player has received the honor. Matt Devins and Jon Lewis garnered honorable mention freshmen all-american for Stony Brook in 2002.
