Football Adds Two More Names to 2008 Recruiting Class

Feb. 19, 2008

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook University's football team added another pair of names to its 2008 recruiting class when head coach Chuck Priore announced that Chris Perri (Alameda, Calif.) and Charles Ryan (Charmichael, Calif.) will be joining the Seawolf program.

Perri, a 6-3, 270-lb. defensive end, comes to Stony Brook from the University of Colorado where he played in nine games for the Buffaloes last season. He also played a season at Laney College in California, making 60 tackles and earning the team's Lineman of the Year award in 2006. In high school Perri was a first team all-HAAL League and a second team all-San Francisco Bay Area selection as a senior at Bishop O'Dowd High School, helping the team to a state NCS 2A championship. "We are excited about having Chris in our program," said Priore. "He is the prototypical defensive end in a 3-4 defense and his combination of power and speed will make him a legitimate threat at our level."

An addition to the Stony Brook offensive line, Ryan is a 6-4, 260-lb. lineman that played for the past two seasons at American River College in Sacramento, California. He lettered both of his season's there, earning first team all-Mid-Empire Conference honors this past fall. "Charles will add depth to our established offensive line," remarked Priore. "His biggest asset is his toughness; he is extremely athletic and will be a good addition to our team."
