Crowley Named America East Rookie of the Week

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Freshman Kevin Crowley (New Westminster, British Columbia) has been named the America East Rookie of the Week the conference announced today. It is the third time this season that he has won the honor and the fifth time that a Stony Brook player has earned rookie of the week honors during the 2008 season. Crowley was cited by the conference for his performance in Stony Brook's 11-7 win over Hartford on Saturday. Crowley was again a key component of the Stony Brook offense as he led the team in points and assists in the victory over Hartford. His three goals matched his previous career-high and it was the third time this season he has scored that many in a game. After not scoring a point in the first half, Crowley scored the first goal of the second half to break a 3-3 halftime tie. In the fourth quarter with SBU trailing by one he assisted on back-to-back goals that gave the Seawolves their margin of victory. In the national rankings out today, Crowley is third in the nation among NCAA Division I players in assists per game, averaging 2.4 per outing. He is also ranked eighth in points per game at 4.1 Stony Brook will be back in action on Saturday when it travels to Binghamton to take on the Bearcats at 2:00 p.m. The game will be carried live on the Madison Square Garden (MSG) network.
