Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook University women's soccer program held its end of the season banquet at SBU's Wang Center on February 16th. During the evening, head coach Sue Ryan and her staff handed out team awards, including the teams Most Valuable Player, Most Improved Player, Top Scholar Athlete, and Most Outstanding Freshman.

John Fitzgerald was the event's keynote speaker. Fitzgerald has been a Long Island Soccer icon for over 20 years and coached the 1997 Long Island Rough Riders to a National Championship.

Senior Jackie Timmes (Mastic, N.Y.) was named Most Valuable Player as she helped anchor one of the nation's most feared defenses. Senior Aisling Toolan (Dublin, Ireland) took home the Top Scholar-Athlete Award as she finished with a 4.0 grade point average and will graduate this summer with a Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy. Head Coach Sue Ryan and her staff also named sophomore Alex Teti (Downington, Pa.) the team's Most Improved Player and Sarah Dwyer (Laurel, Md.) Outstanding Freshman.

The women's soccer team went 8-5-5 and made it to the America East semifinals beating Maine 2-1 in its first ever home playoff game. Goalkeeper Marissa Viola (Cutchogue, N.Y.) and the Seawolves' defense recorded the seventh longest shutout streak in Division I history, holding its opponents scoreless for 863:33, a streak spanning 10 games.
