The matchup
The first meeting produced an overtime thriller that GSU won 82-74. Donald Qualls led the G-Men with 30 points. Two Tigers had double-doubles. Lance Fuertado scored 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. George Akpele had 11 points and 11 boards. Johnathan Boyd led four Braves in double figures with 16 points. Shaunvanta Ingram had 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Alcorn State
The Braves are one of only two winless teams (Bryant University) left in NCAA Division I men's basketball. Jonathan Boyd (12 ppg) has led the Braves in scoring in 12 games this season.
Grambling State
Grambling State currently sits in 8th place in the SWAC standings, the last spot in the SWAC tournament which will be played less than hour away from their campus in Shreveport. Qualls leads the SWAC in scoring with 17 point per game, while Fuertado is 7th with 15 points per game and is 6th in rebounding at six per game.
