BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Junior LaToya Clark of Jackson State earned the season's first SWAC Volleyball Player of the Week award. Mississippi Valley State's Maura Moed was named SWAC Defensive Player of the Week while Jackson State outside hitter Chyna Coleman garnered Newcomer of the Week honors.

Clark (S, 5-5, Jr., Tallahassee, Fla.) tallied 140 assists and 52 digs on the weekend, finishing with three double-doubles at the JSU Lady Tiger Invitational. She helped her team to a 2-2 mark at the Invite with wins over University of New Orleans and Louisiana-Monroe.

 

Moed (MB, 5-10, Sr., San Antonio, Texas) had 15 kills, three blocks and three digs in Valley's 3-0 sweep of Philander Smith.  Against Lyon College, she recorded 12 kills, five blocks and four aces.

 

Coleman (OH, 5-8, Jr., Phoenix, Ariz.) tallied 54 digs and 50 kills on the weekend, finishing with two double-doubles in four matches. A transfer from Phoenix College, Coleman also registered nine blocks.

Teri Braddock (L/DS, Jackson State) - Totaled 68 digs and four service aces in the JSU Lady Tiger Invitational
Lonnie Huff (OH, Mississippi Valley State) - Contributed 34 kills, 13 digs and two blocks in two matches

Mandee Fruson (S/OH, Mississippi Valley State) - Averaged 18.5 assists and 3.5 digs in two matches

Clarissa Moore (OH, Alabama A&M) - Finished with 19 kills and nine digs in three matches at the Georgia Tech Classic

Rose Corneille (L, Alabama A&M) - Posted a team-high nine digs against Georgia Tech

Christa Rogers (S, Alabama A&M) - Had 35 assists and 12 digs in three matches at the Georgia Tech Classic

Rachel Hornbuckle (MB, Arkansas-Pine Bluff) - Hit .667 at the Arkansas State Invitational

Lorin Johnson (L, Arkansas-Pine Bluff) - Had a team-high 12 digs against Louisiana Tech

Annika Spitz (S, Arkansas-Pine Bluff) - Posted 10 assists and two digs against Louisiana Tech

Brena Wheelre (OH, Alabama State) - Finished with 29 kills and eight digs in two matches

Roselande Corneille (L, Alabama State) - Had 43 digs, nine kills and three assists in a pair of matches

Ana Pego (S, Alabama State) - Finished with 71 assists, 12 digs and seven kills at the Xavier (La.) tri-match

Erin Fondel (S, Prairie View A&M) - Posted 87 assists and nine kills during action at the Sam Houston State Invitational

Sharonda Marshall (RS, Prairie View A&M) - Contributed 12 blocks and four digs in four matches
