Three members of the Southwestern University men's and women's tennis teams have been voted by conference coaches for All-SCAC recognition as the teams were announced on Monday (May 19). Senior Leslie Smith (Temple, TX/Temple HS) was the only of the three to make the All-SCAC Team, consisting of 10 players from the conference. Smith finished the 2008 season with a 12-6 mark playing number one singles for the Pirates. In doubles play, Smith was 7-10 in the first flight. This marks Smith's third appearance as an All-SCAC performer. Mary Pennington (San Antonio, TX/Churchill HS), a sophomore playing number two singles, was an honorable mention selection with a record of 11-7 in singles action. In doubles, also playing in the second position, she finished with a record of 10-8. In 2007, Pennington was an All-SCAC selection. First-year D'Artagnan Bebel (The Woodlands, TX/Oak Ridge HS) was also named honorable mention on the men's side. Bebel posted a singles record of 13-6 while playing primarily in the fourth through sixth spots in the Pirate lineup. In doubles, the first-year was 5-12.
