Senior Chris Norris (Katy, TX/Katy HS) earned a victory in the long jump with a distance of 6.72 meters while junior Kristin Lahaie (Cypress, TX/St. Pius X HS) won the 1500 meters with a time of 5:12.99 at the Tarleton Relays in Stephenville, TX on Thursday (Mar. 13).

In the women's races, Laura Kromann (Austin, TX/Bowie HS) posted a second place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:30.34 while Lahaie finishing third just seconds behind her. Dianna Urrego (Houston, TX/St. Agnes Academy) and Lili McEntire (Smithville, TX/Smithville HS) finished back to back in sixth and seventh.

Senior Jessica Ratcliffe (Coppell, TX/Coppell HS) recorded a time of 11:44.46 for seventh in the 3,000 meters. The Pirates' 4x400 relay team placed sixth with a time of 4:32.46.

For the men, Norris also took fifth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.20 while senior Mike Hanschen (Austin, TX/Austin HS) placed seventh just 0.20 seconds behind Norris. In the 100 meter dash, Hanschen was sixth while Norris came in ninth. Sophomore Avery Sheppard (Cuero, TX/Cuero HS) recorded a seventh-place finish in the 400 meters, crossing the finish line in 51.66. Sheppard also took sixth in the 110 meter hurdles.

Matthew Broussard (College, TX/A&M Consolidated HS) was the Pirates' top-finisher in the 800 meters with a time of 2:05.15 while Addison English (Keller, TX/Keller HS) ran the 1,500 meters in 4:24.87 for 10th overall. The 4x100 relay team took fourth place with a time of 42.89 and the 4x400 team recorded a time of 3:35.67 for eighth place.

Southwestern competed against primarily NCAA Division II runners with a few Division III schools running in select races.

The Pirates next competition date is Friday (Mar. 28) and Saturday (Mar. 29) at the Victor Lopez Rice Bayou Classic hosted by Rice University in Houston, TX.
