Five Lions Victorious at David Noble Relays

Texas A&M University-Commerce had five event winners on Saturday at the David Noble Relays in San Angelo, Texas.
The Lions' Sunny Henderson was first in the javelin with a throw of 107-6 and second in the 100-meter hurdles (15.06). In addition to the runner-up performance by Henderson, seven A&M-Commerce women picked up second-place honors. LaShara Jefferson was second in the discus (137-9) and in the shot put (39-3 3/4). Fellow thrower Rachel Redding was second in the hammer (137-6) and fifth in the discus (110-10). Katie Barthold was second in the 200-meter dash (25.87) and was a member of the runner up 4x100-meter relay (51.01). A&M-Commerce throwers Britney Fisher and Taylor Smith picked up third-place honors in the discus (117-1) and in the shot put (36-10 1/4), respectively. Freshman Makesha Brewer and sophomore Esther Fernandez were fourth in the 200-meter dash (27.31) and 800-meter run (2:33.87), respectively. Finishing fifth were junior Alycea Wallace in the 100-meter dash (12.67) and graduate student Andra Bickel in the 1,500-meter run (5:40.71). On the men's side, the Lions had four individual champions including Herron Love in the 100-meter dash (10.71), Robert Reed in the 1,500-meter run (4:01.41), Tyler Tyndell in the 5,000-meter run (15:10.62) and Lyndon Wyse in the triple jump (46-1 1/4). Freshman Kasie Carrell was second in the 800-meter run (2:00.57) and A&M-Commerce had four third-place finishes. Among those finishing third were junior Brad Dotson in the 200-meter dash (22.24), Leslie White in the high jump (6-4), Wyse in the long jump (22-0 3/4) and the 4x100-meter relay (42.30).
Finishing fourth was Leonard Jackson in the 400-meter dash (50.99), freshman Brandon Womack in the 1,500-meter run (4:11.58), White in the javelin (176-7), sophomore Jeff Rayome in the shot put (48-10 1/4) and the 4x400-meter relay (3:18.17). Four more Lions took home fifth-place honors including Anthony Valle in the 100-meter dash (11.38), Alfredo Soto in the 1,500-meter run (4:17.67), Josh Conder in the high jump (6-0) and Michael Williams in the triple jump (40-8 1/4). Next, the Lions will travel to the Michael Johnson Invitational on Saturday, April 19th at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. |
