Lyndon Wyse Records NCAA-Provisional Mark in the Triple Jump

La'Shara Jefferson recorded the second-best mark in the nation in the discus and Lyndon Wyse recorded the sixth-best mark in the triple jump to lead the Texas A&M University-Commerce track and field team at the Mean Green Twilight on Thursday.
La'Shara Jefferson won the discus with an improvement on her NCAA-provisional mark with a throw of 159-4. The throw is the second-best currently in Division II. Britney Fisher recorded a season-best mark, as well, with a throw of 133-8 and for fourth-place honors. Junior Lyndon Wyse set a season-best in the triple jump, leaping 49-2 ¾ to a fourth-place finish and a NCAA-provisional mark. The performance is the sixth-best currently in NCAA Division II and he also was fourth in the long jump with a leap of 21-11 ½. Sophomore Robert Reed led four Lions to a top-six finish as the Sachse, Texas native won the race in 4:03.85. Brandon Womack was second in 4:08.65, Alfredo Soto was fourth in 4:14.22 and Logan Kelly was sixth in a season-best performance of 4:18.79. Leslie White was second in the javelin with a season-best throw of 161-8. Jeff Rayome was second in the shot put with a throw of 49-8 ¼. Freshman Herron Love was seventh in the 200-meter dash in a season-best time of 21.61. Plus, Lynden Poole set a new season-best mark in the 100-meter dash (11.27) and in the 200-meter dash (23.26). The Lions' 4x100-meter relay (42.43) and in the 4x400-meter relay (3:23.57). White was fifth in the high jump, clearing 6-6 ¾ and Tyler Tyndell was fifth in the 5,000-meter run in 15:35.03.
Also, on the women's side, Sunny Henderson was second in the javelin with a throw of 108-8 and she also finished sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.27) In the 100-meter dash, junior Alycea Wallace was seventh overall in a personal-best time of 12.33and Katie Barthold recorded a season-best time of 12.40 en route to a tenth-place finish. Both also set season-best performances in the 200-meter dash, Barthold was 10th in 25.66 and Wallace was 12th in 26.02. The Lions' 4x100-meter relay team was third in 50.01. Freshman Makesha Brewer and senior Sabrina Hadnot posted season-best marks in the 400-meter dash en route to 11th (1:02.19) and 12th place (1:02.26) finishes, respectively. In the 400-meter hurdles, Leslea Traylor was third (1:14.43). Senior Rachel Redding was third in the hammer with a throw of 127-5. Jefferson was sixth in the shot put with a throw of 38-7 ¾. Taylor Smith and Fisher were eighth (37-7 ¾) and ninth (33-8 ¾), respectively. The next meet for the Lions is the Lone Star Conference Championships, starting on Friday, May 2nd. |
