Senior Scooby Johnson scored 30 points to lead three Lions in double digits in an 86-75 win over No. 14 Southwestern Oklahoma State. Johnson added 10 rebounds for his fifth double double of the season. It is also the fourth time that he has scored 30-or-more points in a contest.

Johnson was joined in double digits by senior Kevin Widemond and senior Derrick Darkis, who scored 21 and 12, respectively. With a collapsing defense by SWOSU that would send three players at Johnson, the duo opened things up by combining for six three pointers as Widemond hit four and Darkis added two. Senior Leonard Bishop matched a season-high with seven assists and junior Cedric Griffin came off the bench with a spark as he scored eight points, grabbed four rebounds, dished out two assists and had a steal in 22 minutes of action.

The Bulldogs (20-4, 8-2 LSC North), who is also ranked No. 6 in the latest NCAA South Central Regional rankings, had four players in double figures. Trevor Guy scored a team-high 20, including three 3-pointers to lead a SWOSU team that hit 12 three pointers. He was joined by Kendall Smith, who scored 17 - including five 3-pointers, Nate Perry added 12 and Clarke Hale chipped in 11.

Johnson scored 21 of his 30 in the second half as A&M-Commerce shot a season-best 67.9% in the second half. The Lions led for just 5:43 in the first half, including the final nine seconds when Darkis hit a lay up. The lay up sent the Lions into the halftime break with a 36-34 advantage.

After a 9-2 run to start the second half, Southwestern Oklahoma State scored the next seven points to tie the game at 44 with 16:14 left in the contest. However, it would be the fifth and final time the two teams would be tied.

The Lions retaliated with a 12-5 spurt for a 56-49 advantage and a lead they would not relinquish. During the spurt, Darkis and Widemond each hit three pointers. SWOSU managed to cut the deficit to four on a pair of occasions.

With a 68-64 lead with 4:44 left in the contest, the Lions ended any come-from-behind effort with a 14-3 run. During the run, Johnson scored back-to-back field goals that also set up back-to-back three pointers by Darkis and Widemond that put the Lions in front by 15, 82-67, with 1:22 left in the game.

A&M-Commerce returns to the road on Saturday when it travels to Durant, Oklahoma to face Southeastern Oklahoma State at 8 pm as earlier this year, the Lions posted a 61-43 win over the Savage Storm on Jan. 26.
