Texas A&M University-Commerce junior Britney Jordan led four Lions in double digits with 21 points in a 75-69 win over Northeastern State on Wednesday night in a Lone Star Conference North Division contest.

A&M-Commerce (13-5, 2-1 LSC North) hit nine three pointers in the win, but the RiverHawks, who lead the LSC in three-point field goals made per game, knocked down 13 from beyond the arc.

The Lions countered the outside game of Northeastern State with a balanced game from the perimeter and on the inside. Joining Jordan in double figures was senior Melissa Bratton with 16, senior Katedria Mosley added 13 and junior Nola Taylor chipped in 11. It is the fourth time in 2007-08 that the Lions have had four players in double digits.

Northeastern State (9-2, 2-1 LSC North) hit a season-high 13 three pointers in the loss. Kim Hunter led all scorers with 24 points on the strength of six three pointers and teammate Jezzal Quintana added 21 points, including five three pointers. They were joined in double figures by Verressa Gaston, who added 10 points.

The Lions led for all but 11 seconds in the win. After an early tie at 2-2, A&M-Commerce went on a 21-9 run for an early 23-11 lead with 9:51 left in the first half. During the spurt, the Lions made three trifectas of its own.

A&M-Commerce managed to extend the margin to as much as 18, 38-20, but the Riverhawks scored the last eight points of the opening half to cut the lead to 10, 38-28. In the opening 20 minutes, the Lions shot 50% from the field and forced NSU into 13 miscues. Jordan scored 17 of the Lions' 40 points and Quintana scored 13 of the Riverhawks' 30 points.

In the second half, following a Mosley lay up at the 19:27 mark, the Riverhawks gradually cut Lions lead to four when Quintana and Hunter each hit two three pointers apiece to trim the A&M-Commece lead to 50-46 with 12:39 to go. The Lions retaliated with a 7-0 spurt to go in front 57-46 with 11:31 remaining.

NSU refused to go away as they cut the Lions lead to three, 70-67, with 1:55 left in the game. Again, the Lions had an answer as junior Tarika Campbell hit a clutch three pointer for a 73-67 lead with 1:49 remaining in the game. Despite a field goal by Quintana, on their next possession, Hunter missed a three point attempt and Campbell came away with the rebound for the Lions. Jordan made two free throws to ice the victory for A&M-Commerce.

Next on the schedule for the Lions is a contest against Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday at 2 pm in the A&M-Commerce Field House.
