Southwestern Oklahoma State capitalized on an 11-4 spurt midway through the first half and a game-deciding 19-2 run early in the second half en route to an 87-65 win over Texas A&M University-Commerce on Wednesday night.

The host Bulldogs (11-8, 2-2 LSC North) got a spark from Jenna Sprague, who came in averaging 6.9 points a contest, to score a team-high 21 points to lead three Southwestern Oklahoma State players in double digits.

Joining her in double figures was Grace Anne Fath with 18 and Suzy Ramon, who added 17. Southwestern Oklahoma posted its second-highest percentage of the season in the win, shooting a blistering 50.9% from the field.

In the loss, the Lions (14-6, 3-2 LSC North) were held to 32.8% shooting from the field and junior Britney Jordan was in double digits for the ninth-consecutive game. The Peoria, Illinois native scored 19 of her 28 points in the second half.

Jordan scored the first six points of the Lions in the second half to cut the SWOSU lead to 44-34 with 16:18 remaining in the game. The Bulldogs retaliated with a 19-2 run on the strength of six points by Sprague and three-consecutive three pointers to blow the contest wide open.

A&M-Commerce began the game with four-straight points, but it was an 11-4 run midway through the opening stanza that sparked host SWOSU to a 37-28 halftime lead. During the spurt, Sprague scored eight of her team-high 15 points to lead SWOSU.

With the nine-point deficit, it marked the fifth time that A&M-Commerce entered the intermission behind. In the first 20 minutes, the Lions struggled from the field as they were held to seven field goals and 28% shooting from the field. Despite the low percentage, the Lions were able to get to the free throw line for 17 trips, making 13.

For the Lions, the tandem of Jordan and Mosley combined for 17 of the 28 points in the first 20 minutes. Southwestern Oklahoma State shot 50% from the field and out rebounded the Lions by a 20 to 16 margin.

The Lions will return to the court in a week, taking on Cameron on Wednesday, February 6th at 6:00 pm to wrap up its first half of the rigors of the Lone Star Conference North Division.
