Three Lions Score in Double Digits in 87-65 Loss to Northeastern State

Northeastern State ran out to a 20-5 lead on the strength of four three pointers en route to an 87-65 win over Texas A&M University-Commerce at the Jack Dobbins Field House.

Northeastern State (13-10, 6-2 LSC North) hit 11 three pointers and outscored the Lions 21 to 15 on second-chance points in the win. RiverHawks' Jessica White and Verressa Gaston each had double double efforts with 21 points and 11 rebounds and 17 points and 12 rebounds, respectively. The duo was joined in double figures by Jezzal Quintana, who scored 16 points.

A&M-Commerce (16-7, 5-3 LSC North) senior Katedria Mosley had a double double with 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead three Lions in double digits. Junior Britney Jordan scored a game-high 22, including 16 in the second half and senior Dominee Evans added 10.

After falling behind as much as 19 in the first half, the Lions managed to get the deficit down to 10 on three occasions. After cutting the NSU lead to 36-26, the RiverHawks scored nine of the last 11 points of the half for a 45-28 halftime lead. The 45 points by the RiverHawks are the most by an A&M-Commerce. At the break, NSU had outrebounded A&M-Commerce, 29-to-14 - including a decisive 11-4 advantage on the offensive boards.

The Lions scored the first eight points of the half to cut the Northeastern State advantage to 47-36 with 18:08 remaining in the game, but they would get no closer. The RiverHawks retaliated with back-to-back three pointers and never looked back in the contest.

The Lions are home for its next two games, starting with a 2 pm tilt against East Central on Saturday at the A&M-Commerce Field House.
