Women's Basketball Ranked No. 9 in First NCAA South Central Regional Poll

Jan. 30, 2008

On Wednesday, the NCAA announced the first South Central regional rankings. The Texas A&M University-Commerce women's basketball team is ranked No. 9 in the ten-team poll.

The Lions currently have a 14-5 overall record, including a 13-5 mark against teams in the NCAA South Central Regional. The top four spots are held by teams that the Lions have already played in 2007-08. At the top of the poll is Lone Star Conference South Division leader, West Texas A&M. The Lady Buffs are currently 14-3 overall and maintain a perfect 13-0 mark in contests against in-region opponents.

At No. 2 is Washburn, who the Lions dropped a 79-76 decision on Nov. 23, the No. 3 spot is held down by Central Oklahoma, who leads the LSC North Division and No. 4 is held down by Angelo State, who defeated the Lions, 85-83 on January 10th.

The remainder of the poll is as follows: No. 5 Truman, No. 6 Missouri Southern State, No. 7 Southwest Baptist, No. 8 Emporia State and No. 10 Northwest Missouri State.
