FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - TCU senior Jonathon Berrettini competed in the 50-free event at the 2008 NCAA Men's National Championships on Friday, becoming the first Horned Frog swimmer to participate in the championships since 1997.

Berrettini, a native of Lewisville, Texas, posted a time of 20.32 in the preliminary event to place 45th overall. The time currently ranks fourth in TCU history behind Berrettini's mark of 20.10 set earlier this season.

On Friday, Berrettini will compete in the 100-back event in hopes of placing in the top 16 to earn All-America honors. Berrettini qualified for the championships with a time of 47.33 to notch a No. 13 seed in the event. The preliminaries will begin at 9 a.m. CDT and the finals will follow at 4 p.m. CDT.
