ARLINGTON, Texas - The Flyin' Frogs recorded 10 NCAA regional qualifying marks on Saturday at the 32nd annual Bobby Lane Invitational on the campus of UT Arlington.

Earning NCAA regional qualifying marks on the men's side were the men's 4x100, 4x400, Tommy Killen (Discus) and Joe Brown (Javelin). On the women's side, Neidra Covington (Long Jump), Candis Kelley (Shot Put), Stormy Harrison (Shot Put), Virgil Hodge (100 meters), the 4x100 and 4x400 earned regional qualifying marks.

"Overall, we were steady today. We came off a hard week of practice and had some sore bodies today, but we stood up and got through the day," said head coach Darryl Anderson. "All-in-all, we are making steps and we just have to keep taking those steps every week to move us towards the conference and NCAA meet."

In the field events, Brown, a senior from Overland Park, Kan., crushed the regional qualifying mark by throwing 215 feet, 9 inches to finish in first-place. Brown, who saw his first action of the spring season, currently has the ninth best toss in the nation. In the women's shot put, Kelley and Harrison placed second and third overall with regional qualifying tosses of 48 feet, 8 ¾ inches and 47 feet, 11 inches, respectively. Harrison threw 150 feet, 5 inches in the women's discus to finish in sixth-place.

"I thought Joe Brown did a great job today in his first time out this outdoor season," said Anderson.

Killen once again had a strong day in the ring, tossing 178 feet, 7 inches to win the men's discus competition at Maverick Stadium. Finally, Covington posted an NCAA regional qualifying leap by soaring 20-00.25 (6.10m) in the women's long jump. The sophomore, who posted the second best leap in the nation on Saturday, won her first event of the spring season after capturing All-American honors in both the long and triple jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships. On the men's side, Jonathan Jackson leaped to a third-place finish by soaring 23-09.50 (7.25m). His jump is currently the top mark in the Mountain West Conference this spring.

"Tommy Killen had some big-time throws in the discus that were called foul, but overall he did a great job," said Anderson. "Neidra Covington did what she had to do today and got her regional qualifying mark. She had a good day."
