NORMAN, Okla. - Freshman Stormy Harrison and sophomore Tommy Killen each blasted new school records in the discus on Saturday as the Flyin' Frogs competed at the John Jacobs Invitational.

"I thought our discus throwers competed and executed very well today. They took advantage of very favorable discus winds," said assistant coach John Kenneson. "It was very good to see both of them throw and break the records against some very good regional competition."

Earning NCAA regional qualifying marks were Candis Kelley (shot put), Harrison (discus) and Killen (discus).

Harrison, a freshman from Cisco, crushed the school record by tossing 160 feet, 2 inches on her third throw to finish fifth overall in the event at John Jacobs Field. Harrison's toss broke Zelma Wade's throw of 157 feet, 11 inches set in 2005. The freshman's toss currently sits in the top 50 of the NCAA.

Killen won the men's discus in Norman on Saturday, tossing a career best mark of 192 feet, 10 inches, which is an NCAA regional qualifying mark. His throw broke Jordan Reynold's previous school record of 190 feet, 8 inches, set in 1990. Killen's toss was one inch off the Olympic Trials standard.

Kelley, a College Station native, won the women's shot put with an NCAA regional qualifying toss of 49 feet, 7 inches. She was followed by Harrison who placed eighth overall with a throw of 46 feet, 1 ¼ inches.

In the relays, the men's 4x100 unit clocked a time of 40.83 to finish first overall, while the women crossed the finish line in second-place with a time of 45.95.

In the men's 110-meter hurdles, freshman Jordan Pitts just missed clocking an NCAA regional qualifying time. Pitts ran 14.32 to finish fifth overall in the event. On the women's side, Kishelle Paul posted a wind-aided time of 13.91 seconds in the women's 100-meter hurdles.

Finally, Jessica Clarke recorded a time of 55.03 in the women's 400 meters to clock a fourth-place finish. Clarke's time is currently the fastest mark in the Mountain West Conference.

"Overall, it was a really hard meet because of the elements. It made all the races very difficult. We got some work done though and we are excited for our meet next week," said Kenneson.

TCU will host the TCU Invitational next weekend at Lowdon Track and Field Complex in Fort Worth.
