FORT WORTH, Texas - Meaghan Peoples crushed her previous school record in the women's heptathlon on Thursday to finish sixth overall in the event with 4,974 points on the second day of competition at the Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships.

Peoples competed in three different events on Thursday, which included the long jump, javelin and the women's 800 meters. A native of Weatherford, Texas, Peoples won the 800-meter run for the second-consecutive year with a time of 2:14.16 to close out the heptathlon event in sixth out of 10 competitors. For the event she totaled 905 points and earned TCU three points going into Friday's action.

Sandy Fortner of New Mexico won the heptathlon totaling 5,641 points.

The rest of the Flyin' Frogs will open action at the conference championships tomorrow in Fort Worth. Start time is set for 7:30 a.m. with the women's 10,000 meters.
