Track heads to UTA/Bobby Lane Invitational

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU track and field team will close the month of March in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area on Saturday with the 32nd annual Bobby Lane Arlington Invitational on the campus of UT-Arlington.
"Really, this meet is a good meet for us to get ready for next weekend and the Texas Relays," said head coach Darryl Anderson. "We're excited to see what we can do this weekend as we get everybody back on the track. We are going to try and continue to keep using these early meets as training because we have to keep getting better as we get closer and closer to hosting the conference championships." The meet will include both college and high school teams and will begin with high school competition on Friday at 3 p.m. at SMU. College field events will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday with the women's pole vault, while running events are set to begin at 1 p.m. with the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Heat sheets should be available to the public Friday afternoon or Friday evening. Competing in the Bobby Lane Arlington Invitational are Angelo State, Arkansas (men only), Dallas Baptist, DePaul, Emporia State, Louisiana-Monroe, McMurry, Minnesota, Northwood, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Oklahoma, North Texas, Northwestern State, SMU, Southwest Christian, Tarleton State, TCU, Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas State and UT-Arlington. General admission into the stadium will be $5.00, while all students with a valid I.D. will be admitted for $2.00. Complete results at the conclusion of Saturday can be viewed at www.gofrogs.com. In its last outing, the Flyin' Frogs posted 10 NCAA regional qualifying marks at the Horned Frog Invitational. TCU also compiled 14 first-place finishes in its first home meet of three this season.
TCU Opens Season Ranked No. 19 Individually, TCU is ranked in the top 25 in 11 different events combined, including all four relays.
Flyin' Frogs Out Of The Blocks Strong With Regional Qualifying Marks Last Saturday, TCU members who earned NCAA regional qualifying marks on the men's side were the men's 4x100, Che Chavez (400 meters), Otis McDaniel (100 meters), Andon Mitchell (100 meters), Justyn Warner (100 meters) and Mychal Dungey (200 meters). On the women's side, the 4x100, Kishelle Paul (100-meter hurdles) and Candis Kelley (shot put) earned NCAA regional qualifying marks. Last Year In Arlington TCU posted 11 NCAA regional qualifying marks in the first 32 events scored. Highlighting the day for the Flyin' Frogs was the performance of Kishelle Paul, who posted an NCAA regional qualifying mark in the 400-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 59.59. Also earning NCAA regional qualifying marks for the women's team were Virgil Hodge (100 meters), Jamee Jones (100 meters), Nathandra John (400 meters), Deborah Jones (400 meters), JimAnne Hejny (long jump), Candis Kelley (shot put) and the 4x100 relay team. On the men's side, regional qualifying marks were earned by Delwayne Delaney (100 meters), Dell Guy (400 meters) and the 4x100 relay team.
TCU In The MWC Overall, the Flyin' Frogs have the top times in the 100, 200, 400, 1500, 110m high hurdles, 4x100, 4x400, long jump and discus on the men's side. The Purple and White women claim the top spot in the 200, 400, 100m high hurdles, 4x100, 4x400 and shot put.
TCU In The Nation On the men's side, Mychal Dungey leads all individuals by currently ranking second overall in the men's 200, while Che Chavez currently sits at third overall in the 400. The men's 4x100 is currently sitting right behind Texas A&M for the top spot in the nation, while Otis McDaniel, Andon Mitchell and Justyn Warner all crack the top 20 in the 100 meters. Finally, Tommy Killen heads into this weekend ranked No. 10 overall in the discus.
Hodge To Be Featured On BBC Hodge, who is joined by her mother in the interview, is being featured on "The Road to Beijing," a BBC program chronicling five athletes' quest towards the Olympics. Hodge, a six-time All-American who was recently selected as the Mountain West Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Student-Athlete of the Year, finished the indoor season earning All-America honors at the NCAA Championships by placing seventh in the women's 200 meters. In Fayetteville, she clocked a season-best time of 23.20. By doing so she became the only female in Horned Frog history to hold at least six such honors.
