FORT WORTH, Texas - Following its best collective output during the outdoor season in which the TCU Track and Field program posted 27 NCAA regional qualifying marks and crushed two school records, the Flyin' Frogs will take to the track at the 114th running of the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.

"It's always an exciting time when you are getting ready for the Penn Relays. It's one of the biggest meets in the country. The kids will get an opportunity to run in front of 30,000 people and that should be fun for them," said head coach Darryl Anderson. "We are going to try and do our primary events this weekend and concentrate on getting better as we move towards the conference, regional and NCAA meet."

The three-day meet will begin on Thursday and continue through Saturday at Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. Thursday's action is set to begin with field events starting at 9 a.m., while running events will get underway at noon.

The prestigious meet, which boasts high school and Olympic divisions, is one of the premiere events in track and field. Collegiate ranked teams competing in the 2008 Penn Relays are Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Liberty, Miami FL, Michigan, Mississippi State, Penn State, South Carolina, Southern California, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and Virginia.

Live results of the Penn Relays will be available online at www.gofrogs.com, with complete results and daily recaps also available at the conclusion of each day of competition. Additional meet information can be found on www.thepennrelays.com.

TCU has enjoyed great success in the previous 113 years of one of the nation's premier outdoor track meets. TCU's last title at the Penn Relays came in 2005 when the women's 4x400 relay team of Deborah Jones, Jamee Jones, Donita Harmon and Nathandra John won the event in a time of 3:36.43.

"TCU has been a big part of the Penn Relays tradition for a very long time and obviously we want to go to Philadelphia and continue that tradition," said Anderson.

Overall, the men's and women's teams have combined to win seven individual and 10 relay titles at Franklin Field. The Flyin' Frogs have also had one man and two relay teams named the Outstanding Male College Athlete for the meet. Earlier this month, TCU brought its Wall of Fame total to two as the men's 1991 4x100 unit joined the 1986 4x200, which set a collegiate record at Penn, on the prestigious wall. Finally, TCU has set two Penn Relays records on the men's side in the 4x100 and 4x200.

Last Year At Penn
The TCU track and field team earned bronze medals in the men's 4x100 and 4x200 relays. In the men's 4x200 Championship of America, TCU's unit posted a season-best time of 1:23.19 to place third, while the 4x100 quartet of Raymond Jones, Delwayne Delaney, Justyn Warner and Dell Guy earned a bronze medal with a time of 40.52. The women's 4x400 relay team of Kishelle Paul, Deborah Jones, Jamee Jones and Nathandra John picked up a fourth-place finish in the Championship of America. TCU posted a time of 3:35.52.

Former Frogs Awarded At 2008 Penn Relays
Former TCU greats Carey Johnson, Ralston Wright, Jon Drummond and Horatio Porter are a part of the 2008 Wall of Fame class at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia. Johnson, Wright, Drummond and Porter were part of a 4x100 relay team in 1991 that set a 10-year Penn Relays record, winning the event in 38.80 seconds. It was the first sub-39 college 4x100 at that time.
