TCU head men's basketball coach Jim Christian announced on Tuesday (June 17) that Detroit standout Kavon Rose (Detroit, Mich./Finney H.S.) has joined the Horned Frogs' program and will join the roster for the upcoming 2008-09 campaign.

"We're extremely excited about the signing of Kavon," said Christian. "He comes from a very strong high school program at Finney and is a very athletic, intelligent and versatile player. We believe that he is going to be a tremendous asset to our program and is a welcome addition to the roster."

The 6-2 Detroit standout concluded his final campaign at Finney High School by averaging 22.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 6.0 steals and 5.0 assists per game en route to securing Detroit Free Press First Team All-City honors.

Rose - who participated in the Michigan State All-Star Game - was rated as the number-two player in the Detroit and the fourth-best player in the State of Michigan following his junior season.

During his junior campaign - Rose averaged 25.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.0 steals per game and was selected to the Detroit Free Press and Detroit News "Dream Teams." The newly-inked Horned Frog was also cited as a Detroit Public School League All-Star member as well as an all-state selection.

Rose becomes the fourth player to be added to the Purple and White under Christian as he joins junior college transfers Edvinas Ruzgas (Vilnius, Lithuania/Weatherford College) and Zvonko Buljan (Split, Croatia/Vincennes University) and incoming freshman Ronnie Moss (Fort Worth, Texas/Christian Life Academy).
