Stephen Hodge and center
Blake Schlueter have been named honorable-mention preseason All-Americans by The Sporting News.
Phillips was tabbed by TSN as a candidate for the Butkus Award, honoring the nation's top linebacker. Hodge was named a candidate for the Thorpe Award, given to the outstanding defensive back in the country.
Phillips, Hodge, Schlueter and cornerback Rafael Priest represent TCU on TSN's preseason All-Mountain West Conference Team.
Phillips was named the player with the Best Instincts in the MWC. Horned Frog tailback Aaron Brown was selected as the league's Best Athlete.
