HOUSTON -- TCU preseason All-Americans Jason Phillips and Blake Schlueter have been named to the 2008 Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List.

The Rotary Lombardi Award is presented annually to the top lineman or linebacker in college football.

Phillips, a senior linebacker, now appears on three watch lists for national awards. He is also a candidate for the Dick Butkus Award and Bronko Nagurski Trophy.

The Preseason Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Phillips has also been tabbed by Dave Campbell's Texas Football as the State's Defensive Player of the Year for 2008. The Waller, Texas, native was named last season by Dave Campbell's as the top linebacker in Texas.

Phillips is a three-time All-Mountain West Conference selection. He has started all 38 games the last three seasons. Only four players nationally have a longer current streak for consecutive games started. Phillips' 231 career tackles, including a team-best 87 last year, top all active Frogs.

A senior from Ganado, Texas, Schlueter is also on the watch list for the Rimington Trophy as the nation's top center.

Schlueter is a two-time All-Mountain West Conference selection. He was a first-team choice last season on Dave Campbell's Texas Football All-Texas College Team. Schlueter has started all but one game the last two years.
