The TCU men's golf program tied for 12th overall in its first tournament of the 2008 spring campaign at the UH Hilo Intercollegiate at the Waikoloa Village Course in Waikoloa, Hawaii, on Wednesday afternoon.

The Horned Frogs finished with an 18-hole tally of 284 - which is still in contention for a high showing as the Purple and White find themselves only nine strokes back of a top-five finish with 36 holes remaining in the tournament.

Arizona State and Texas Tech are tied for the team lead at the UH Hilo Intercollegiate with a round total of 271 while Oregon State (273), USC (274), Stanford (275) and Georgia Tech (275) round out the top five.

Travis Woolf (Fort Worth, Texas/Paschal H.S.) finished as the Frogs' top golfer after Day One of competition as the TCU sophomore notched an 18-hole tally of 69 en route to finishing 20th overall.

James Sacheck (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville H.S.) is one-stroke back of his teammate with a round total of 70 - including a team-best 32 on the back-nine at the Waikoloa Village Course - en route to finding himself tied for 29th overall.

Franklin Corpening (Fort Worth, Texas/Paschal H.S.) finished with a score of 72 - which placed him 52nd overall - while Robby Ormand (Austin, Texas/James Bowie H.S.) and Jordan Woolf (Fort Worth, Texas/Arlington H.S.) were both tied for 65th place with a score of 73 after the first 18 holes of competition.

The Frogs will hit the links on Thursday for the second round of action at the UH Hilo Intercollegiate.
