The TCU men's golf program will head to the West Coast for its final tournament before the Mountain West Conference Championships as the Horned Frogs get ready for the U.S. Intercollegiate Championships at the Stanford Golf Course beginning on Saturday (Apr. 19).

No stranger to facing outstanding competition on the golf course - the U.S. Intercollegiate Championships will be no different for the Purple and White as they will be joined by a PAC-10 filled field. UCLA comes in as the highest-ranked squad as the third-best program in the country while USC (fifth), Stanford (11th), Arizona State (20th), Oregon State (45th) and Oregon (50th) are all ranked in the top-50.

"We are looking forward to playing at a great venue against some of the best competition in the country this weekend," said head men's golf coach Bill Montigel. "This is a very tough field with PAC-10 flavor, but it's going to be good for us because it'll help prepare us for the conference championships next week. The team that we will be fielding are playing extremely well, and it'll be a good tune-up for them heading into next week."

The Frogs - who enter the competition ranked 47th in the latest Golfstat rankings - will also be matched up against Mountain West Conference-opponent San Diego State - who enters the tournament ranked 33rd in the country. The Frogs squared-off against the Aztecs once during the season where San Diego State captured the team crown at the Fresno State Lexus Classic - an event where TCU tied for sixth overall.

The Frogs will look to rebound from an 11th-place finish at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Texas where the Purple and White had their seven top-10 showing streak snapped.

In the lineup for the Frogs at the U.S. Intercollegiate Championships will be the consistent and familiar faces that has aided the Purple and White to a top-six finish in three of their last four tournaments in senior Franklin Corpening (Fort Worth, Texas/Paschal H.S.), juniors Robby Ormand (Austin, Texas/James Bowie H.S.) and James Sacheck (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville H.S.) and sophomores Travis Woolf (Fort Worth, Texas/Paschal H.S.) and Jordan Woolf (Fort Worth, Texas/Arlington H.S.).

The 2008 U.S. Intercollegiate Championships begin with 36 holes on Saturday (Apr. 19) followed by the third and final round on Sunday (Apr. 20) at the Stanford Golf Course - which is a par-70, 6,835-yard course on the campus of Stanford University.
