Hoge advances to U.S. Amateur Championships with sectional triumph
Aug. 6, 2008
The TCU men's golf program continues to build on its rich tradition during the summer months as several Horned Frogs have found success on the links all over the country over the last two weeks of action.
Tom Hoge (Fargo, North Dakota | Fargo South High School)
The TCU sophomore recorded a two-round score of 136 at the Wildflower Golf Course in Detroit Lakes, Minn., while finishing four shots better than runner-up Bryce Hanstad of Colorado State. Hoge will make his first-ever appearance at the U.S. Amateur Championships as he will join Travis Woolf and James Sacheck - who both qualified for the championships earlier this summer. This was the second tournament victory of the season for Hoge as the TCU sophomore notched a gold medal at the North Dakota Match Play to go along with a third-place showing at the North Dakota Stroke Play.
Travis Woolf (Fort Worth, Texas | Paschal High School)
Woolf will make his first-ever appearance at the U.S. Amateur Championships on August 18th-24th at the Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 4 Golf Courses in Pinehurst, N.C.
James Sacheck (The Woodlands, Texas | Zionsville High School) James Sacheck finished 38th overall at the Western Amateur Championships in Benton Harbor, Mich., after posting a four-round total of 287 (72-66-74-75). Sacheck will make his fourth-straight appearance at the U.S. Amateur Championships on August 18th-24th at the Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 4 Golf Courses in Pinehurst, N.C.
Scott Roudebush (Austin, Texas | Austin High School)
This was the third top-five finish of the summer season for Roudebush as the Austin, Texas, native posted a second-place showing at the 2008 Firecracker Open and third-place mark at the CPT Blackhorse. TCU Athletic Media Relations
