TCU head men's golf coach Bill Montigel announced the Horned Frogs' 2008-09 tournament schedule on Friday - which will feature 10 tournaments around the country in addition to the Mountain West Conference Championships set to be held in Tucson, Ariz.
Kansas Invitational (September 15-16 | Lawrence, Kan. | Alvamar Golf Club)
The Purple and White will open their 2008-09 campaign at the Kansas Invitational on September 15-16 at the Alvamar Golf Club in Lawrence, Kan.
Hawks Invitational (September 28-30 | North Falmouth, Mass. | Ballymeade County Club)
In the final week of September - the Horned Frogs will travel to North Falmouth, Mass., for a spot in the University of Hartford Hawks Invitational set to be held at the Ballymeade Country Club. Slated to be the largest Division I regular-season golf tournament in the country with 16 states and 10 conference represented - the Frogs will be joined by Boston College, Air Force, SMU, Mercer University, Rutgers and North Carolina State as well as the entire eight-team American Sky Men's Golf Conference.
The Prestige at PGA West (October 13-14 | La Quinta, Calif. | Greg Norman Course)
For the second consecutive season - the Frogs will fly to California for The Prestige at PGA West on the Greg Norman Course in La Quinta, Calif. Hosted by both Stanford University and UC Davis - the Frogs finished tied for fourth overall with Pepperdine during the 2007 season while finishing behind UNC Charlotte, Stanford and Central Florida.
Columbia Invitational (October 24-26 | Atlantic City, N.J. | Galloway National G.C.)
The Frogs will travel from the West Coast to the East Coast for the final tournament of the fall campaign as the Purple and White will be a part of the Columbia Invitational on October 24-26 at the Galloway National Golf Club in Atlantic City, N.J.
The Frogs will be joined at the Columbia University Invitational by nationally-ranked programs Louisville and Auburn along with Coastal Carolina, San Jose State and St. John's as well as a plethora of programs from the Ivy League.
UH Hilo Invitational (February 4-6 | Hilo, Hawaii | Mauna Lani Resort)
The Frogs will open up the spring portion of their schedule in Hawaii for the 15th consecutive season as the Purple and White will be part of the UH Hilo Invitational at the Mauna Lani Resort on February 4-6.
The UH Hilo Invitational is one of the most difficult tournaments in the country as the field includes nine teams ranked in the final top-20 rankings from a season ago - including defending national champion UCLA. The field also includes Arizona State, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Alabama, USC and Stanford. Last season - the Frogs finished ninth overall in the 18-team field after recording a three-round team total of one-under-par 839.
UNF Invitational (February 22-24 | Jacksonville, Fla. | TPC at Sawgrass)
In their second tournament of the spring season - the Frogs will travel to the Sunshine State to play one of the most legendary golf courses in the country in TPC at Sawgrass as part of the UNF Invitational hosted by the University of North Florida on February 22-24.
National Invitational Tournament (March 22-23 | Tucson, Ariz. | National Golf Resort)
After a month away from tournament action - the Frogs will return to the links on March 22-23 at the National Invitational Tournament at the Tucson National Golf Resort in Tucson, Ariz., looking to repeat their crown from the 2008 season.
Last season - the Frogs held off Kent State by three strokes to claim the tournament crown for their second victory of the season. The Frogs defeated a nationally-ranked field in Arizona State, Arizona, UNLV, Pepperdine and Notre Dame at the National Invitational Tournament last season.
Morris Williams Intercollegiate (March 30-31 | Austin, Texas | Univ. of Texas Golf Club)
For the second straight season - the Frogs will travel to Austin for the Morris Williams Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Texas on March 30-31. Last season - the Frogs finished 11th overall in a field that included nationally-ranked programs Texas, Oklahoma State, Auburn, Central Florida, Alabama and Louisville.
ASU Thunderbird Invitational (April 10-11 | Tempe, Ariz. | ASU Karsten Golf Course)
The Frogs will kick-off the Month of April at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational hosted by nationally-ranked Arizona State at the ASU Karsten Golf Course. This will be the second of three trips during the spring campaign that the Frogs will be heading to Arizona as they will also be a part of the National Invitational Tournament as well as the Mountain West Conference Championships.
Texas A&M Classic (April 18-19 | College Station, Texas | The Traditions Club)
In their final tune-up before the Mountain West Conference Championships - the Frogs will travel to College Station, Texas, for a spot in the Texas A&M Classic at The Traditions Club on April 18-19.
Mountain West Conference Championships (April 30-May 2 | Tucson National Golf Resort)
Last season - the Frogs recorded their best finish in the Mountain West Conference Championship with a second-place showing. This season - the Purple and White will look to claim their first Mountain West Conference title on April 30-May 2 at the Tucson National Golf Resort in Tucson, Ariz.
This will be the second time during the 2008 spring campaign that the Frogs will have played on the Tucson National Golf Resort as they will also be a part of the National Invitational Tournament.
TCU Athletic Media Relations
