TCU finishes 11th at Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge

PALOS VERDES, Calif. -- The TCU women's golf team tied for 11th, while Valentine Derrey finished ninth individually after Wednesday's final round of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif. The 28th-ranked Horned Frogs shot a final round 25-over-par 309, one stroke better than Tuesday's second round, to finish with a 54-hole score of 925. No. 2 UCLA totaled an 876 for a 7-stroke victory over fifth-ranked Florida and the team championship. The 15-team field included 12 top-25 programs. Derrey carded a final-round 76 for TCU's low score on the day. Her 6-over 219 was four strokes off the pace of medalist Natalie Sheary of Wake Forest. Melissa Loh and Allyson Ferguson, two of three freshmen in TCU's five-player lineup, had their best rounds of the tournament as both carded 77s. Ferguson recorded a team-best four birdies on the day. Christina Schams also had her best round with a 79. Prisela Campbell posted TCU's second-best result for the tournament, tying for 50th individually with a 21-over 234. The Frogs return to action Feb. 24 at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan. Team Scores TCU Scores
