Derrey leads Frogs at Bryan National Collegiate

BROWN SUMMIT, N.C. -- TCU sophomore Valentine Derrey posted a 74 to place 14th individually, while the Horned Frogs finished 14th as a team after Sunday's final round of the Bryan National Collegiate in Brown Summit, N.C. The 27th-ranked Frogs shot a 312, dropping 13 strokes off their second-round total. TCU had a 54-hole score of 947. No. 5 Florida, which entered Sunday's final round a stroke back of top-ranked Duke, shot a 19-over-par 307 to overtake the Blue Devils for the team championship with a 906. Duke had a 310 and finished two strokes behind Florida at 908. Derrey had her second 74 in the tournament. She had two birdies on the day in recording her seventh top-20 finish in eight tournaments this season. Melissa Loh, one of three TCU freshmen in the 5-player lineup, had a final-round 77. Stacy Lewis of Arkansas was at even-par 216 for the tournament to take medalist honors by one shot over Amanda Blumenherst of Duke. The Frogs return to action April 16 at the Mountain West Conference Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. TCU rallied from a 6-stroke deficit entering last year's final round to win its first MWC title.
