Derrey remains in contention for individual title

PALOS VERDES, Calif. -- Valentine Derrey's 73 has her two shots off the individual lead, while TCU is 11th in the team standings after Tuesday's second round of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif. Derrey birdied holes 12 and 13 as she carded a 1-under-par on the back nine. The sophomore from Paris, France, is in a three-way tie for second at 1-over 143 through 36 holes. Pepperdine's Taylore Karle is in the lead with a 141. The 28th-ranked Horned Frogs remained in 11th place after a second round 26-over 310. TCU's 616 total is 30 shots behind leader and No. 3 USC who's at 586. The Trojans hold a one-stroke advantage over second-ranked UCLA. No. 9 Arizona, No. 7 Denver and No. 23 Michigan State are among the teams TCU leads. The 15-team Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge features 12 of the top-25 programs in the nation. Prisela Campbell and Melissa Loh, two of three freshmen in the TCU five-player lineup, carded a 76 and 79, respectively. Both posted two birdies.
