Coach Abdalla's Journal
Jan. 29, 2008
TCU head coach Dan Abdalla once again sat down with GoFrogs.com to give fans an inside look into his program during the winter season.
This is the fourth installment of Coach Abdalla's weekly journal as the Horned Frogs will open the spring season in February.
Fourth Installment Our first couples of day's last week were good, especially when we got on the field Tuesday. I was extremely impressed with the kids enthusiasm and passion. There is quite a bit of energy with this team. We definitely have seen some new personalities come out in the young kids and that has been awesome.
Kaylie Garcia and Katie Taylor have both gotten back on the practice field, which is definitely nice. They bring a whole different level of atmosphere and passion. Overall, what I think stands out are the attitudes and level of confidence our current sophomores are showing this winter. They have battled through a lot that is for sure. Lizzie Batten is really working hard. I am excited to watch how Lizzy Karoly and Michelle Nguyen handle this spring. They are the two kids who are always playing and have a love for the game that is fun to watch. Lizzy is probably going to go over to England this summer and train. She is a kid that wants to improve and get better everyday. With Michelle, she loves to play and she has started to realize that she has the ability to be a very dominant player. The light bulb has started to go off a little bit. She wants to prove that she is every bit as good as her brother, who plays professionally, so I think you are starting to see her train harder. It will be fun to see what those two do over the spring. They are two of our more experienced players and we are going to rely on them both on and off the field.
