TCU Soccer releases spring schedule
Feb. 15, 2008
FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU soccer program released its 2008 spring schedule on Friday. The eight-match schedule consists of three home matches at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium and one at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco.
"I am excited about this schedule. We wanted to challenge ourselves a lot this spring to get our kids prepared for next year," said head coach Dan Abdalla. "It is important for us to develop a little bit and have the girls understand how they deal with certain situations on the field." The spring schedule is dotted with one match against a team that made the NCAA Tournament in 2007, one Southeastern Conference school and three Big 12 schools. The Horned Frogs will open their spring season at home against Iowa State on Friday, Feb. 29 at 7 p.m. The Cyclones finished the fall season with an 8-5-6 record. Following its game against ISU, TCU will take on NCAA qualifier Stephen F. Austin on Saturday, March 29 at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. Following its two home matches, TCU will travel to Frisco to face off against Texas Tech on Saturday, April 5. The Frogs defeated the Red Raiders this fall, 2-1, on Sept. 14. The match against Texas Tech will be played at Pizza Hut Park, which is home to FC Dallas. "Going up to Frisco is going to be a good opportunity for our girls to play in one of the top facilities in the country," said Abdalla. "Every spring I like to do something unique and this should be really special for the girls." TCU will open a difficult road swing on April 12 at the Baylor Spring Invite. The Horned Frogs will face Houston Baptist (11-5-3), Baylor (7-10-2) and Trinity (7-5-3) in Waco. Following its three matches at Baylor, TCU will close its road portion of the spring schedule at Arkansas on Saturday, April 19 at 1p.m. The Lady Razorbacks finished the 2007 season with an 8-8-1 record. TCU will put the wraps on its spring slate on April. 26 at home with its annual alumni match at 7 p.m.
