Harkins and Sydorska selected to NCAA Championships
April 30, 2008
FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU women's tennis duo of Macall Harkins and Anna Sydorska earned an at-large bid to the 2008 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Doubles Championships, while Nina Munch-Soegaard was named an alternate in singles play. The individual championships will begin on May 21 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
The 18th-ranked Frog duo of Harkins and Sydorska earned the at-large bid after posting an overall record of 20-9 this season and a mark of 13-6 this spring at the top position. Harkins and Sydorska defeated six ranked opponents this season, including the third-ranked Georgia Tech duo to advance to the semifinals of the National Indoors Tournament in the fall.
Sydorska will make a repeat trip to the championships, as the junior reached the semifinals with partner Ana Cetnik last season for only the second time in school history. The duo earned All-America honors and finished the season ranked No. 3 nationally.
Munch-Soegaard, a sophomore from Amarillo, Texas, was named the third alternate for the singles portion of the championships after posting an overall mark of 25-11 and a 15-8 record this spring at the top position. Munch-Soegaard, ranked No. 60, defeated eight ranked opponents overall this season.
The Frogs will begin play at the NCAA Regionals in Waco, Texas, on May 9 at 3 p.m. against No. 40 Tulsa.
